Brief Introduction to the Test Principle:

Under specified test conditions (using specific electrodes and a voltage/current step-up program), a high voltage is applied to the surface of the material to induce intermittent or continuous arc discharge. The high temperature and chemical corrosion generated by the arc gradually cause the material surface to carbonize and form conductive paths (tracking) until eventual failure (breakdown or sustained burning). The instrument records the elapsed time (in seconds) from the start of the test until the material fails. This time is referred to as the **arc resistance time** of the material and serves as the core indicator for evaluating its performance.

 

Scope of application:

The assessment of arc resistance performance of electrical insulation materials such as plastics, resin adhesives, and insulating paints used in industries such as motors, appliances, and household appliances is mainly applicable to the testing of arc resistance performance of solid insulation materials such as plastics, films, resins, mica, ceramics, glass, insulating oil, insulating paint, cardboard, and other media.

Experimental principle: Used to test the arc resistance of solid insulation materials; The material to be tested will be exposed to a high voltage, gradually increasing small current environment until a stable conductive channel is formed on the surface of the material. This time is the arc resistance time of the material.
